It is an operation that must be done, as any other object in the house, lamps and chandeliers should be cleaned. Before starting, the only care is to remove the current to avoid any accident. The bulbs, to be washed with a cloth soaked in alcohol, should be removed and put to one side, then you can go to wash the lamp. The modern lamps can be cleaned with the detergents in the trade without work to disassemble, but in the case of the chandeliers and lamps with the shade, it is good to do a more thorough job.
Crystal chandeliers. You have a little patience, and to see it come back to shine, you must clean individually each “drop” with a cloth moistened with alcohol.
Glass chandeliers. Starting from the shape of its components, are cups, goblets, or other parties, any module that is removable should be removed and immersed in a basin of water and detergent, then carefully wiped dry, and reassembled. The fixed parts can be dusted with a damp rag of a fabric suitable to the glass that leaves no streaks.
Chandeliers in gilded metal. As already discussed, these materials only require a good dusting, but every now and then can be cleaned with a cloth dampened with water and alcohol in equal parts, rinsed with water and dried with a soft cloth.
Wrought-iron chandeliers. The wrought iron should be dusted gently with a brush. In the presence of some rust stain, you can pass a brush or a rag soaked in oil, then left to assciugare and Polish with a cloth of flannel.
In the case of lamps, the supporting structure and the “hat” should be treated differently according to the material of which they are composed. Starting from the stem, when it is in the brass can be cleaned with a cloth soaked in a water and alcohol in equal parts, rinsed with water and dried well with a cloth of flannel.
Decorated, must be dusted without the use of liquid products to avoid to make it opaque, while if it is in chrome-plated metal should be cleaned with water and simple detergent, then dried with a soft cloth to not leave streaks. The stem wood only requires to be dusted often. The lamp shades are worth a separate discussion.
Silk and lace. Sprinkled with a brush, very soft, but if they are very dirty, only a professional cleaning cleaning can be effective.
Cretonne or washable fabric. Starting from the freeze-preventive, you can disassemble it and wash normally, or go with a damp cloth and then left to dry.
Canvas plastic coated. The cleaning in this case is easy and fast, just use a slightly damp cloth to go on the surface and a dry one to remove residues and streaks.
Parchment. The lampshades in parchment are more delicate and must be dusted with a dry cloth. If, with time, are darkened, you can clean with the crumb of bread or with a white eraser, proceeding from top to bottom, without going back to the movement.
