Your grandfather in military uniform, your grandmother, at the age of 5 years, making it a battle of balls of snow with her mother, and the first vacation your father and his cousins – many of us have old family pictures somewhere in the attic of their parents. The watch is a bit like reliving the family’s history. It is also to rediscover the lifestyle and the dress trends of our rear (back) grandparents.
But with time (and humidity), the pictures have a tendency to crumble and, with it, a part of your family and you also. Libraries around the world digitize and archive old manuscripts, and it might be time for you to do with the family photos, retro black and white of the 50s and those of the decade of 80, of which the colours begin to shift.
A gift caring for your parents or grand-parents
You are of course(es) you have fun creating this album and delve into the history of your family. It can also be a nice gift to make to the one who is the “memory” of your family and who remembers the stories hiding behind some photos. Just imagine for a moment your child or grandchild in 2050, making a photo album of your youth, with your high school friends, your first holiday without your parents, or with snapshots of this year where you have studied abroad.
How to scan old photos
Before you add photos to a photo book of good quality as the Photo Book A4 hard Cover or Paper Silver A4 Opening to flat, you must first scan your photos.
Here are three ways to proceed :
- To use the scanner of the house, that of work (we won’t tell anyone !) or your local library.
- Use the free application of Google PhotoScan if you plan to scan your photos vintage by photographing them with your smartphone. It is really easy to use and does all the work for you. It crops your photos and removes any shadows or reflections. But be aware that the quality will be a little less good that with your own scanner, in particular for large-format pictures.
- Solicit professionals online or a store near you.
