But how did this food processor?
It was in the year 1908 , when in Troy, Ohio, Herbert Johnston , he was struck in seeing a baker using a heavy spoon to mix a dough of bread. Johnston she went to work at his drawing board, and designed a mechanical mixer which was immediately launched on the market as a professional device, obtaining an immediate success.
A little over 10 years later, in 1919, the robot model H-5 was designed and engineered for home use. An example of engineering excellence that, even today, the distance of a century, represents a true design icon.

Who had the idea to call KitchenAid?
Once you’ve made it home appliance all it needed was a name which, coincidentally, was invented by the wife of one of the leaders of Johnston , who, after having tried the new food processor, cried out with enthusiasm: “I don’t care what you call it, it’s the best kitchen aid I’ve ever had!”. Thus was born the name “KitchenAid”.
And so that in 1920, the company patented the design of the planetary movement of the robot from the kitchen, destined to become a true icon and, three years later, thanks to a major advertising campaign, KitchenAid and it becomes a brand known all over the United States.

In the meantime, theacquisition of the Crescent Washing Machine Company of Josephine Cochrane, a visionary inventor of the first dishwasher mechanical, instead puts the foundations for the first great “revolution” in the history of the large appliance. And, in 1949, KitchenAid realize the dream of Cochrane, introducing on the market the dishwasher, the KD-10.
Since then, KitchenAid has grown rapidly and has come to design a complete line of products, from utensils to appliances large and small, celebrated and desired by gourmets around the world.
And we’re at today. To celebrate a glorious past and, at the same time, look to the future, KitchenAid offers two great novelties: the variety of small appliances Queen of Hearts (limited edition) and the revolutionary Machine for the Vacuum-14 cm, characterized by small size and new, unique features.
